COVID-19 TESTING 

  • People who have symptoms of COVID-19.

  • People who have had closes contact* with someone with confirmed or suspected COVID-19.

* Someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to test specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.

  • People who have been asked or referred to get testing by their healthcare provider, local or state health department.

  • People that are required to have a negative test prior to travel or participation in an activity.

  • General timing recommendations for testing:

    • Wait 3 full days from start of symptoms​

    • Wait 5 full days from time of exposure​

ANTIGEN TESTS - aka RAPID ANTIGEN TESTS 

Method:  Lateral Flow Technology

Pro:   rapid results available for real-time decision making

Con:  less sensitive compared to the PCR

​

RAPID ANTIGEN TEST (QuickVue by QUIDEL) 

results available in 15 minutes        $50  

Make an appointment and fill out questionnaire

Sample is collected via swab from the nasal area (we do the swabbing outside the pharmacy)

Results will be provided in the form of a letter signed by the pharmacist on duty

RT-PCR TESTS -  Currently Unavailable

Method:  PCR tests are a type of diagnostic test that uses a technique called NAAT (Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests)

Pro:   able to pick up a smaller amount of viral particles present in the sample

Con:  longer processing time

results available same day     $129

Samples collected before ~4 PM weekdays or NOON on Saturday will be processed the same day

Ultra-rapid results can be obtained for an additional $25 (not billable to insurance) 

Sample is collected via swab from nasal, nasopharyngeal, or oropharyngeal areas (we do the swabbing outside the pharmacy)
